New Handicap Course

Because of the many changes to the footpaths over our old handicap route a new one has been devised (with thanks to Stuart).

After last night I thought it best to send you all a copy of the route so you can all "sus" it out before 16th May.

There is also a copy on the website on the "Pairs Champs" page.

A reminder to everyone that it is the first of the Summer League Races next Wednesday 11th April.

There is some confusion over the start time.
It was mentioned last night that the start is 07:00 so that no-one finishes in the dark.
I have just received an Email stating that the start is at 07:15.

May I suggest that you assume a 07:00 start JUST IN CASE !!!

Put your Garmin routes on the EVRC website

For those of you with Garmin devices and a Garmin Connect site, you can now copy your training and race routes on the club website.  It would be great if we can build up a set of road and off road routes.

You need to be logged in to the EVRC website to do it.  Select Share on your Garmin site and copy the Embed code, which you can paste on to your created route.  So start posting here: http://www.evrc.co.uk/node/add/running-route.

Notts AAA county fell running championships, Sun 11th March 2012

NOTTINGHAMSHIRE AAA COUNTY FELL RUNNING CHAMPIONSHIPS 2012

Sunday, 11th March 2012 11.00 am
 
Venue: Wolf’s Pit fell race, Shatton, near Bamford, Hope Valley, Derbyshire.

The race organisers have kindly agreed for the Wolf’s Pit Fell Race to host the Nottinghamshire AAA County Fell Running Championships once again.
 

PARKING AT HIGH PEAK GARDEN CENTRE, HOPE ROAD, BAMFORD, HOPE VALLEY, S33 0AL. 900 metres to registration and start / finish

 
PLEASE CHECK on the race website www.wolfspitfellrace.org.uk - Notes for competitors, Route Description and Course Map.  The race is  held over private land so no training on the route before race day.

IN THE EVENT OF SEVERE WEATHER ON OR FORECAST FOR RACE DAY, CHECK THE RACE WEBSITE FOR UPDATES / CANCELLATION / DELAYED START TIME

Competitors must be over 18 (see race website for information for junior races).
 
£5 entry on the day at registration – arrive in good time for the walk to registration and start / finish area.
 
Nottinghamshire qualification based upon birth in county or residence for the last 9 months. No previous participation in a different county championship in this year eg cross-country.
 
County championship medals to men and women in open, V40, V50 and team (3 to count). The race will act as a selection race for the UK Intercounties Fell Running Championships to be held at Shining Tor on Saturday 19th May.
 
Nottinghamshire Fell Championships results will be posted on the Nottinghamshire AAA website www.nottsaaa.org as soon as possible after the race.
 
Nottinghamshire AAA Fell Championships medals will be awarded in line with Nottinghamshire AAA rules and dependent on the number of individual and team entries:
 
Gold                                 1 – 2 entries
Gold + Silver                     3 – 4 entries
Gold, Silver + Bronze        5+     entries
 
Teams will consist of the first 3 scoring runners from each club. There is only one category of open team. There are no vet team awards. Medal presentations will take place soon after the end of the race.
 
Wolf’s Pit fell race is an AS category fell race of 9.2 Km / 5.71 miles and 467m / 1532 feet ascent. The course has steep, grassy ascents and descents, rough grass with heather moorland and rocky tracks. Studded fell shoes are advisable.
 
The race is to be run under FRA rules and there is a mandatory full kit requirement THAT MUST be carried throughout the race. This will consist of full body cover (it is advisable that these are waterproof lightweight top and trousers), hat and gloves, whistle, silva type compass and map suitable to navigate the course. The kit requirement is not for the severity of the terrain but the time of year when extreme weather conditions may develop rapidly with little warning. Alongside random kit checks by the race organiser, Nottinghamshire Championship runners will also be randomly kit checked  before the race start and on finishing. Failure to comply with kit requirements will result in disqualification from the race and championships.
 
Runners should wear clothing suitable for the conditions. It is not essential, but it is hoped that club vests will be worn.

These are being held at Wollaton Park, 28th Jan.
 
Ladies race starts at 2:25 and is 8km
 Mens race starts at 3:00 and is 12km

London Marathon

Simon Pitts has returned his "London Club Entry" as he cannot now run through injury. The following decision has been made re another draw.
"As no one fulfills the criteria, Gary having had last years number,Karen not doing all the events and having spoken to Dave Pearson tonight who does not want to be in the draw. 
The draw will be between club first claim runners that have London rejection slips, as far as I am aware this is Gary and Karen, to take place on Wednesday evening. 
Anyone else that has a rejection slip and wishes to be in the draw must bring the slip up on Wednesday. 
Due to lack of notice the slip can be handed to any committee member prior to the draw but the Club member must be there on the night to receive the entry"

"LONDON" Entry

Shirley submitted this memo which she wished to be distributed to all club members:-
 
At the London Marathon Entry draw on Wednesday 21 December 2011 there were 3 members who qualified for the draw. These were Dennis Parker, Simon Pitts and Nigel Starr.
Dennis and Simon were the 2 names drawn.
Unfortunately Dennis subsequently found out that he would be unable to run and returned his entry to the Club and therefore to Nigel who was the 3rd qualifying Club member in the draw. Due to the timescale in returning the Club entry to the London Marathon it was passed directly to Nigel.
If there had been more than 3 qualifying members in the draw then the entry would have been passed to the 3rd person drawn out on the night.
 
Please note that the Club London Entries are not normally transferrable. However in exceptional circumstances there is an official transfer form which the Secretary has to complete and return.
