Peat Pits Woods Fell Race
This was the first fell race of the "Running with David" series with 10 runners from the club taking part with excellent results!!
Will we have as many for the cross country races this year? (Perhaps the opposition in fell races isn't so strong!)
Nick has penned his usual (witty?) report:-
Weather was kind, course has no open fell but is entertaining with a fair bit of mud, a chain and some trees to jump over and we had a great turn out.
Peter made us all proud again by winning and Kieran looks like he is going to give Matty a hard time. Mind you I held him off at the start but then he went flying past followed by Andy W, Steve, Richard, one man and his dog etc. etc. Andy K also started fast but managed to keep going, unlike yours truly. I knew it was a bad idea to run up that hill on the first lap. Whilst I showed everybody how not to pace a race everybody else seemed to maintain their rhythm and we had 6 finishers well up in the field.
Positions with overall positions in parenthesis:
1 (1) Peter - not bad for a youngster
2 (4) Kieran - looked good downhill (obviously I didn’t see him go up hill)
3 (16) Andy K - Unattached to what??????
4 (25) Andy W – still crap downhill even if he is this year’s champion therefore room for improvement
5 (27) Richard – making a comeback
6 (33) Steve – still going strong as long as he doesn’t have to read a map with no glasses
7 (54) Nick – good start and fantastic arrow painter – honest I thought it was only 1 short lap
8 (59) Tim – was that an earthquake I felt?
9 (107) Phil – hope the knee gets better – whisky and brufen, if you need whisky drop me a line
10 (141) Caroline – thanks for the feedback we promise to try and improve the course marking
11 (144) Karen – ran 13 miles before breakfast so training looks on course
I have not had the junior results and I believe a young Wright ran the long course but I couldn’t find him in the results so congratulations to the Wickams and Wrights and we will add their results when available.
Matty and Neil will make their excuses on Weds, I understand a control was missed in the Mini Marathon but the pub was too noisy to catch all the details.
